PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To deal with substrates having different thicknesses.

SOLUTION: The optical disk is provided with: a first area positioned at a first thickness from the surface of the optical disk and for recording information; and a second area positioned at a second thickness thicker than the first thickness, from the surface of the optical disk, and for recording the information indicating that the thickness of the first area from the surface of the optical disk is the first thickness.
