PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a still greater braking force by generating a force directed up vertically in the body of a vessel propulsion unit.
SOLUTION: The vessel propulsion unit has the body to be attached to the stern plate back surface of the hull, and the body is equipped with a propeller to generate a propulsive force, a prime mover to drive the propeller, a power transmitting mechanism to transmit the power of the prime mover to the propeller, and a braking means to generate a force directed up vertically in the body of the screw by means of brake operation. A first driving means is installed to rotate the screw body round a tilting shaft for a specified angle, and the braking means has a second driving means to rotate the screw body round the tilting shaft further toward the stern plate back surface more than the above described rotating angle. The second driving means inclines the shaft of the propeller to the back downward from the horizontal, wherein the inclining angle to the back downward of the propeller shaft by the second driving means is smaller than the above described angle.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
