<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transflective liquid crystal display device in which lowering of contrast accompanying a multi-gap structure does not occur, and which has high contrast and a wide viewing angle. <P>SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device, a vertical alignment mode using a liquid crystal layer 50 which has vertical alignment as the initial alignment state is adopted. A region outside a pixel electrode 9, a region two-dimensionally overlapping with an outer peripheral part of the pixel electrode 9, and a region two-dimensionally overlapping with an opening part 31S, which is an alignment controlling means, of a common electrode 31 are made to be reflective display regions and regions except for those are made to be transmissive display regions, wherein liquid crystal layer thickness values are nearly equal in the reflective and transmissive regions. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
