<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for generating ammonia from solid urea pellets, which does not necessitate metering of the urea pellets, supported by compressed air. <P>SOLUTION: The urea pellets are taken out from a reservoir in a regulated number/quantity by a pellet dispensing device and transported to a pellet accelerator, where the pellets are mechanically accelerated to a high speed by a pellet accelerator 8. Then, the pellets are introduced into a pellet shooting channel 9 from the pellet accelerator 8, further guided through the pellet shooting channel 9, and shot sent into an ammonia reactor 11, where they are broken down into many small pieces at a pellet deflector 12 arranged on the end of the shooting path. The pieces are converted into a gas mixture containing ammonia and isocyanic acid by means of a urea evaporation device 13. The gas mixture is guided together with steam through a hydrolysis catalyst 14 so that the isocyanic acid is converted into ammonia and carbon dioxide. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
