PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an apparent response when shifted to a search mode. SOLUTION: A search image becomes like a mosaic image in a system for recording an MPEG on a magnetic tape. Therefore, it is possible to utilize a mosaic effect function of existing image signal processing. A period of a bodily sensational time until it is shifted to the search mode can be quickened by making a screen look as if it enters the search mode by temporarily displaying a display image of a current display image subjected to the mosaic effect on the screen.
