PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable efficiently reproducing an image exceeding an actual representing range and an image belonging to the actual representing range. SOLUTION: An image processing unit 20 has a data accepting unit 200 for accepting image data; an analyzing unit 202 for analyzing an pixel value of an image; a reference value setting means 204 for setting the white reference of the color space (YMCK) of a color system suitable for printing processing in response to this result of analysis; a color reproduction control unit 206 for controlling color reproduction on the basis of the set white reference; a plurality of color conversion units 208a, 208b each having a color conversion table to be adjusted on the basis of the set white reference; and an image formation control unit 210 for controlling image formation.
