PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcasting receiver enabling even a user who receives cable television distribution to perform correct preset registration and viewing. SOLUTION: The broadcasting receiver comprises: a tuner 11 for receiving and demodulating broadcasting radio waves of a set frequency at the time of detecting them; a storage part 14 storing frequencies of broadcasting stations and cable television stations for respective areas; and a control part 15 for reading the frequency of the broadcasting station of the area from the storage part 14 and setting it to the tuner 11 at the time of confirming the area on the basis of the operation of an input part 16, registering the pertinent frequency in the storage part 14 when the broadcasting radio waves of the broadcasting station are received by the setting, reading the frequency of the cable television station of the same area from the storage part 14 and setting it to the tuner part 11 when there is even one frequency at which the broadcasting radio waves are not received, and registering the pertinent frequency in the storage part 14 when distribution signals of the cable television station are received by the setting.
