PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a spark plug, whereby a packing can be prevented from being damaged by surely interposing the packing between a main metal fitting and an insulated insulator, when manufacturing the spark plug. SOLUTION: The insulated insulator 1 is held by a holding member 200 with the tip side of a center electrode 2 turned upward. The packing 8 is disposed on the step part 15 of the insulated insulator 1. Under this condition, the main metal fitting 5 is put on it from the upper part, and the main metal fitting 5 is mounted on the packing 8 by making a step part 56 in the inside of the main metal fitting 5 abut on the packing 8. Since the disposed condition of the packing 8 can be visible when disposing the packing 8, the packing 8 can be surely disposed at a normal position. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
