PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording medium or the like in which deterioration in error correction performance is avoided to suppress wasting of recording regions in the case of reproduction using the information recording medium. SOLUTION: Provided is a linking area which is inserted in the boundary part between a unit block area where an ECC block as a unit of error correction of recording data is recorded while divided into a plurality of frames each having an added sync code and an adjacent unit block area, the linking area being characterized in that linking information divided into two frames to each of which a sync code SYX or SYY having a different pattern from the sync code of the unit block area is added; and ECC blocks are so recorded that two sync codes SYX and SYY of the linking area are different in sync pattern, and they are detected during reproduction and used to decide frames in the linking area.
