PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure polarization angle rotation for measuring electron density of a tokamak device, and to stably measure the electron density of the tokamak device with high reliability. SOLUTION: A light source for generating a single wavelength of light is arranged in an outside of the tokamak device. The single wavelength of light gets incident into plasma inside the tokamak device, by the light source. The wavelength has a length of a wavelength of a Faraday rotation angle due to the plasma exhibiting the Faraday rotation angle larger than a measured polarization angle resolution. The single wavelength of light emitted from the plasma is detected to measure the Faraday rotation angle by a polarization detecting/measuring means. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
