PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous coating composition which gives a flexible coating film and has a highly improved degree of contamination. SOLUTION: This aqueous coating material composition contains a core-shell polymer as specific emulsion particles. The core-shell polymer has the glass transition temperature (Tg) of -10-10°C; Tg of the core layer is≤0°C and Tg of the shell layer is in the range of 30-70°C. In the core layer, an unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer is copolymerized at≤5% and in the shell layer, an unsaturated carboxylic monomer is copolymerized in the range of 5-20 wt.%. Both of the layers comprise each a copolymer with a major component consisting of monomers selected from (metha)acrylic acid alkyl esters and styrene. The composition comprises: (A) 100 pts.wt. of a solid portion of an acrylic resin emulsion consisting of the core-shell polymer as a major component, (B) 0-20 pts.wt. of an additive, (C) 10-90 pts.wt. of a filler, (D) 0-20 pts.wt. of a pigment, and (E) 0.5-5 pts.wt. of a hydrophilic agent.
