In order to control inlets and outlets of liquid-filled containers, it is necessary to have floats constructed as hollow bodies. In the event of damage to a float and of a subsequent ingress of liquid into the same, the further functioning of the control is endangered. In order to ensure the function, a float is provided which consists of two half shells (2) which are sealed by cover plates (3). Webs (4) extend from the half shell (2) through the cavity (10) as far as the cover plate (3). As a result, the cavity (10) is subdivided into chambers (5) which are not interconnected. Any liquid which penetrates flows only into one chamber and not into the entire cavity. <IMAGE>
