<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein oil enters through gaps between metal reinforcement rings and between the reinforcement ring and an outer peripheral horizontal end part of a seal lip to cause oil leakage. <P>SOLUTION: This oil seal includes: an oil seal body formed by fluorine contained resin as a whole, and having a husk part of a garter spring formed of an annular plate and a lip body part constituting a seal lip, which are connected to each other at the inner peripheral ends, in which a seal lip part raised obliquely inward is formed on the inner peripheral side and a horizontal flange-like fixed seal part is formed on the outer peripheral side; a garter spring mounted near the inner peripheral end between the lip body part and the husk part; an outer L-shaped metal reinforcement ring; an inner L-shaped metal reinforcement ring closely fitted to the inner peripheral side; and an elastic material having soft elasticity, which is loaded between the fixed sealing parts of the oil seal body and pressurized and held together with the fixed sealing part by the respective flange parts of the inner and outer L-shaped metal reinforcement rings. The oil seal is sealingly press-bonded to the respective flange parts of the inner and outer L-shaped metal reinforcement rings without clearance by the elastic pressure of the elastic material to completely inhibit intrusion of oil at this part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
