<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new and safe cyclooxygenase activity inhibitor capable of relatively strongly inhibiting COX-2 while inhibiting both COX-1 and COX-2 for preventing the damage on vital function. <P>SOLUTION: The cyclooxygenase activity inhibitor contains a neem (Melia azadirachta) extract. This invention further provides an external preparation containing the inhibitor. Neem extract has excellent cyclooxygenase inhibiting action and efficiently suppresses inflammation without damaging vital function because the extract has extremely mild inhibiting action on COX-1 and relatively strong action on COX-2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
