A method for securing a turbine blade into an axial slot in the mounting has a securing element (4) locating into a transverse slot with a cross section comprising at least two curvatures, and with the edge of the element with a corresponding shape. The cross section comprises at least two curvatures and provides a strain free mounting, e.g. with no risk of cracking as is the case with the edges of conventional rectangular slots. Typical cross sections include hyperbole shaped slots with parallel side walls with the radii ranging from 0.4 mm to 4 mm.
