摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite optical element easy to assemble without causing degradation of wavefront aberration when unitizing the PBS and the wave length plate to obtain a composite optical element. <P>SOLUTION: The composite optical element 39 holds the PBS5 and the stacked wave length plate 9 by bonding sideboards 40, 41 to their sides. Protrusions 42, 43 are formed in predetermined dimensions on the sideboards 40, 41 at predetermined positions. A function as a spacer is given to those protrusions 42, 43 to form an air space 44 by sandwiching them between the PBS5 and the stacked wave length plate 9. The PBS5 and the stacked wave length plate 9 are made precisely parallel when the composite optical element 39 is assembled by making the precise shapes and positions for forming the sideboards 40, 41, and the affect of the adhesive can be eliminated by adhering the PBS 5 and the sides of the stacked wave length plate 9. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
