<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication system, a card and an authentication method that enable selection of authentication information to be used for authentication by displaying identification information in association with a plurality of authentication information retained in the card, and acquiring a specific authentication information corresponding to a selected identification information. <P>SOLUTION: First, a password for displaying on a display unit a list of user-name accounts for display corresponding to a respective plurality of authentication information stored on an IC card is required to be entered. Based on the password entered, it is determined whether the operation is performed by the user for whom display of the list is allowed. Under these conditions, one piece of authentication information is selected from the plurality pieces of authentication information stored on the IC card.
