PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer system which improves cleaning treatment for a polluted place of the system and other places thereof. SOLUTION: In this system for transferring articles, particularly, eggs, a plurality of pieces of conveying equipment, constituted in at least one row are provided in a plane with at least one height which is arranged under an endless sorting conveyor. After the articles are discharged to the plurality of pieces of conveying equipment from the sorting conveyor by a prescribed method and received by the plurality of pieces of conveying equipment, they are sent out to packaging equipment below the plurality of pieces of conveying equipment. Each of the pieces of conveying equipment is equipped with at least first and second elements. The first and second elements are separated from and brought into contact with each other, and relatively moved from a storage position to receive the articles, to a discharge position to send out the articles downward.
