PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) apparatus, a method and an apparatus for evaluating image uniformity by which an image uniformity index showing which degree of sensitivity uniformity some image has can be outputted. SOLUTION: An object image I (x, y) whose image uniformity is desired to be evaluated is obtained (S1), a reference image Iref (x, y) which is obtained by photographing a same subject as the object image I (x, y) and has high image uniformity is obtained (S2), the object image I (x, y) is divided by the reference image Iref (x, y) to prepare a sensitivity image H (x, y) (S3), and a value numerically showing the uniformity of pixel value distribution of the sensitivity image H (x, y) is calculated as the image uniformity index (S4).
