The lens has optical functional zones (4-7), which are separated from one another by sectionally arranged transient areas (10). One of the edges (8, 9) for light absorption, light reflection and light direction, is arranged between the zones and between the transient areas. The transient areas are inclined to an optical axis of the lens, such that a light beam runs parallel to the transient areas. An independent claim is also included for a lighting unit for motor vehicle.
