<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method, for manufacturing a support for a lithographic printing plate, which uses an aluminum plate with an uneven surface formed by a transfer process, is less costly and can reduce a load on environments. <P>SOLUTION: In this method, at least a cathode electrolytic etching process using direct current in an aqueous neutral salt solution and an electrochemical roughening process using alternating current in an aqueous solution containing hydrochloric acid, are performed, in that order, to the aluminum plate with an uneven surface formed by a transfer roll having an unevenness on the surface.
