METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING TONER FOR ELECTROSTATIC IMAGE DEVELOPMENT AND TONER, DEVELOPER, PROCESS CARTRIDGE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily and profitably manufacturing a toner having an always stable volume average particle diameter and a sharp particle size distribution. SOLUTION: A granulating apparatus with an emulsification dispersing machine and an emulsified liquid circulating/retaining section used in an emulsifying step of toner manufacture is preliminarily filled with an emulsified and/or dispersion liquid in which droplets have a volume average particles diameter Dpv adjusted to 2-7μm and a Dpv to number average particle diameter Dpn ratio (Dpv)/(Dpn) adjusted to 1.05-1.30. An oily phase containing at least a binder resin and a colorant in an organic solvent and an aqueous phase are continuously fed into the apparatus and granulated into particles, and the particles are treated to manufacture the objective toner. A polyester resin is used as the binder resin. The toner has a volume average particles diameter Dtv adjusted to 3-6μm and a Dtv to number average particle diameter Dtn ratio (Dtv)/(Dtn) adjusted to 1.05-1.25. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
