PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of smoothly shifting from photography preparing operation to photographing operation by reducing required operation man-hour and time in the case of manually setting various parameters, and to provide an imaging operation method. SOLUTION: A detection means detects the depressing of the surface of a touch panel. While the depressing of the touch panel detected by the detection means is under a predetermined threshold, an acquiring means acquires a condition related to the depressing of the touch panel. When the depressing of the touch panel detected by the detection means becomes equal to or above the threshold, a setting means sets the parameter of photography based on the condition related to the depressing of the touch panel acquired by the acquiring means.
