LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricating oil composition or a grease composition using a synthetic oil as a base oil satisfying both low temperature characteristics and heat resistance. SOLUTION: The lubricating oil composition excellent in low temperature characteristics and heat resistance is prepared by adding a viscosity index improver comprising a methacrylate-based polymer and a synthetic oil-solvent dissolving the polymer to a base oil of synthetic oil. The grease composition is prepared by adding a thickener to the lubricating oil composition. The lubricating oil composition and the grease composition can attain desired viscosity characteristics, low temperature characteristics and heat resistance without spoiling characteristics of the synthetic oil used as the base oil in the lubricating oil composition and the grease composition, therefore they can satisfy both the low temperature characteristics and the heat resistance at the same time.
