PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of performing impulse driving without shortening the charging time of a liquid crystal capacitor. SOLUTION: The display device includes a gate driving section which transmits a precharge gate-on voltage and a normal gate-on voltage to a plurality of gate lines, a data driving section which applies a data voltage to data lines, and a plurality of pixels which are connected to the gate lines and data lines. Each pixel is equipped with a switching element which operates with the precharge gate-on voltage and normal gate-on voltage and a plurality of pixel electrodes to which the data voltage is transmitted through the switching element. The gate driving section outputs the precharge gate-on voltage before outputting the normal gate-on voltage, the precharge gate-on voltage is lower in level than the normal gate-on voltage. When the precharge gate-on voltage is applied to the switching element, a data voltage having the opposite polarity from a voltage charged in the pixel is applied to the pixel electrodes through the switching element.
