PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the lateral oscillation of a structure having multiple stories. SOLUTION: This method for damping the vibration of the structure having the multiple stories comprises a first transfer step for transferring a weight disposed in the structure from a state in which, when the lateral oscillation occurs in the structure, the weight laterally oscillates together with one story of the structure to a state in which the weight laterally oscillates together with the other stories of the structure and a second transfer step for transferring the weight from a state in which the weight laterally oscillates together with the other stories to a state in which the weight laterally oscillates together with the one story.
