PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for dropping a liquid by which a minute quantity of the liquid is dropped. SOLUTION: The apparatus for dropping the liquid is provided with a dispenser 51 for dropping a liquid crystal LC as the liquid at least on one of substrates to be laminated and the dispenser 51 is provided with a syringe 55 for keeping the liquid crystal LC, an opening and closing valve provided at the lower part of the syringe 55 and capable of cutting off the flow of the liquid crystal LC and a plunger 56 for giving pressure to the liquid crystal LC to drop the liquid crystal LC kept by the syringe 55.
