PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a powder adding device capable of sufficiently demonstrating performance of powder like a coagulant, even when using a kind of powder like a high performance coagulant. SOLUTION: Fluid flows into a front chamber of a powder adding tank divided into two parts by a partition plate 2, then flows into a rear chamber through a cut-off part 10 of the partition plate 2. At this time, the fluid drops onto a fluid diffusion plate 11 attached to the partition plate 2 and flatly diffuses. Powder is added to the diffused fluid. The mixed fluid added with the powder is discharged from an outlet 8 of the rear chamber, and agitated for mixing by a line mixer 9 equipped at an outlet pipe. In the rear chamber, a float 14 is attached to detect the fluid level, and the displacement of the float is transmitted to a regulating valve 5 provided at an overflow pipe inlet of the front chamber via a link mechanism, and an amount of the overflowing fluid is adjusted to keep the fluid level in the rear chamber constant.
