To break up clumps in clarification sludge, during the treatment of sewage, the sludge suspension is fed under pressure into a unit with a flow deflection so that particles beat against a wall and clumps are broken apart. The separated particles are mixed into the sludge in an intensive hydrodynamic action to homogenize the sludge contents e.g. polymers, enzymes, extra-cellular substances and/or microorganisms. The sludge is recirculated (A) by a pump (23) within a digestion tank (22), A part flow is taken by a pump (24) to be passed into the homogenizing unit (25) to be passed (B) to a further treatment tank (26). A mixing pump (27) prevents a return to the original gel structure. After successful homogenizing, the sludge is returned to the digestion tank by the recirculation pump.
|
