CATALYST FOR 2-CYCLE ENGINE OR COMPACT ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for cleaning an emission gas emitted from a 2-cycle stratified scavenging engine or a compact engine having an emission gas composition equal to it.

SOLUTION: The catalyst for cleaning the emission gas having an active phase including a noble metal on a heat resistant carrier comprises a rate of an oxygen storage component in a wash coat being less than 10 mass%. A condensed emission gas can be cleaned by catalysis using an emission gas catalyst. In particular, the discharge load of hydrocarbon is effectively reduced.
