<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image matching method for reducing binocular disparity noise in a vertical direction. <P>SOLUTION: The image matching method re-creates three-dimensional spatial information from a pair of two-dimensional images. Hereat, binocular disparity is used for image matching, whereas existing image matching methods produce vertical noise in the value of binocular disparity intensely in the vertical direction. This invention uses information on binocular disparity for adjacent image lines as a constraint condition when computing the binocular disparity, so that the noise in the vertical direction can be eliminated. In addition, for the binocular disparity, compressibility can be increased by compressing the disparity with a differential coding method. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
