<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength multiplex transmission system which monitors the wavelength dispersion in real time at a high accuracy irrespective of the kind of data signals, while suppressing the cost. <P>SOLUTION: Optical modulators 30.1 to 30.n modulate a laser beam received from light sources 20.1 to 20.n in light intensity to generate optical signalsaccording to data signals 1 to n superposed with reference signals by multiplexers 100.1, 100.2. Band-pass filters 160.1 to 160.n extract the reference signals from electric signals received from photoelectric converters 140.1 to 140.n. A controller 200 measures the reliability relay time from the phase difference between two reference signals received from a phase comparator 180, and calculates the wavelength dispersion on a transmission line 50, based on the relay time and signal light wavelengths λ1, λn. A dispersion compensating means gives specified wavelength dispersion to each optical signal according to the calculated wavelength dispersion. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
