PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyglucuronic acid or an aqueous solution thereof, excellent in safety such as biocompatibility and biodegradability and physical properties as a functional material, useful as a raw material for synthesizing several kinds of functional materials such as foods, medical supplies, medicines, cosmetics and electronic elements, containing little metals and having high water solubility, to provide a polyglucuronic acid also soluble in organic solvents such as glycerol and ethylene glycol, having good treatability, processability and coatability and thereby much useful as a reactant, and to provide a simple and safe method for producing the polyglucuronic acid or its aqueous solution.
