PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preservation method for a surface-treated polyimide film which does not cause loss, with the lapse of time, of adhesion property of the surface-treated polyimide subjected to a surface modification treatment for enhancing adhesion of the polyimide film to an adhesive or a metal. SOLUTION: This preservation method for the polyimide film having at least one surface thereof subjected to at least one surface treatment selected from among a plasma treatment, a corona treatment and a chemical etching treatment comprises preserving the polyimide film in a state where the surface-treated surface is surface-contacted with the surface of another solid, and moreover, airtightly preserving the polyimide film in the above state together with an inert gas in a packaging container composed of a material having an oxygen permeability of at most 100 ml/m<SP>2</SP>×day×MPa and a water vapor permeability of at most 10 g/m<SP>2</SP>×day.
