PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve safety of a secondary battery when external impact or pressure is applied to the battery. SOLUTION: The can type secondary battery comprises an electrode assembly (212) having a first electrode plate (215), a second electrode plate (213), and a separator (214), a can (210) in which the electrode assembly and electrolytic solution are housed, and a cap assembly (220) which comprises a cap plate (240), an insulating plate (250), an electrode terminal (230), and a terminal plate (260), and seals the can by being combined to the upper opening of the can. The insulating plate is formed with a terminal through hole (261) where the electrode terminal is inserted at one side, and has, at the other side, a fixing means (255) for fixing the terminal plate which is installed at the lower side of the insulating plate.
