PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition timing control device of an internal combustion engine capable of igniting intake gas at ignition timing suitable for maximizing thermal efficiency of the internal combustion engine based on a combustion state of the intake gas in a combustion chamber. SOLUTION: The ignition timing control device has a spark plug 7 for igniting the intake gas in the combustion chamber 5, a flame front passing timing detection means 25 for detecting timing at which a flame front of flame generated in the combustion chamber passes a predetermined point located in the combustion chamber apart from the spark plug, and an ignition timing control means for controlling ignition timing of the spark plug so that flame front passing timing detected by the flame front passing timing detection means reaches its target.
