PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce backlash by a comparatively simple constitution and easy adjustment. SOLUTION: In this rotary actuator having an output shaft rotatably mounted on a main body, a pinion mounted on the output shaft, cylinder tubes projecting from both sides of the main body, two pistons sliding in the cylinder tubes, a rod connecting two pistons, and a rack mounted on the rod and engaged with the pinion, the cylinder tubes 13C are indirectly supported on the main body 11 through a sleeve 19 inserted into a hole of the main body, the sleeve 19 has step parts 19a, 19b eccentric to an outer peripheral face, on its both end parts, the cylinder tubes free from eccentricity are fitted to the step parts, and a relative distance between the rod and the output shaft is adjusted by rotating the sleeve to change a circumferential position.
