摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rectangular drive wave hardly being affected by variation in a circuit time constant. SOLUTION: It is understood that a voltage fluctuation time of a rectangular drive wave is varied in approximately 10% when considering variation in a waveform generation circuit for generating the rectangular drive wave or an electromechanical transducer element. Based on a result of measurement of variation in a volume of a liquid droplet at a time when the voltage fluctuation time is changed in 10%, the variation in the volume of the liquid droplet becomes smaller as the voltage fluctuation time is shortened and it is necessary to make the voltage fluctuation time to be smaller than one forth of a natural period Tc of a liquid droplet jet head by considering the influence on quality of an image. However, the speed of the droplet is extremely lowered when the voltage fluctuation time is smaller than one forth of the natural period Ta of the electromechanical transducer element. Therefore, time constants of a first signal generation circuit 52 and a second signal generation circuit 54 of a drive circuit 40 are set such that the voltage fluctuation time "t" satisfies the formula: Ta/4<t<Tc/4 with the proviso that the natural period of the liquid droplet jet head is represented by Tc and the natural period of the electromechanical transducer element is represented by Ta.
