PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk array device performing verification of validity of addressing in data access by use of a redundant code to user data to improve data reliability even when using an HDD such as a serial ATA not allowing expansion of sector length. SOLUTION: When a controller 10 writes target data into the HDD 30, the controller 10 stores partial extraction data d1 thereof into a management area 17 side, and carries out an XOR operation of a check code d2 generated by calculation. The controller 10 returns arithmetic result data (CC embedded data) d3 to the target data and writes them into the HDD 30. When the controller 10 reads the target data from the HDD 30, the controller 10 takes out the CC embedded data d3, performs an XOR operation for applying the check code d2, compares and collates arithmetic result data thereof and the partial extraction data d1 of the management area 17 to check the validity of the addressing, and restores the user data.
