摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an initializing method, as the method for manufacturing an optical recording medium without the deterioration in the recording characteristic at the initial repetition and without the variation in the characteristic in the overall data area, in which the overwriting at a high linear velocity having the maximum recording linear velocity of 10.5-35 m/s is permitted. <P>SOLUTION: In the initialization method in which the optical disk is rotated at a specified linear velocity while performing the irradiation with a rectangular or oval laser beam which is elongated with respect to the radial direction of the disk-like optical disk, and in which the crystallization is gradually performed while moving the laser beam in the radial direction by the width shorter than the spot size (half-value width) of the long axis direction, the optical intensity distribution in the long axis direction of the laser beam has the beam intensity peak at the rear end side in the moving direction (radial direction) of the beam. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
