<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of detecting the stain and failures of an alignment mark detection means, and also capable of preventing the deviation of a printing position. <P>SOLUTION: The printer prints on a web to which the alignment mark is formed beforehand. The printer has a mark detection means for detecting the alignment mark and an alignment control means for controlling a transfer speed of the web so that ideal mark detection timing is made coincident with a mark detection signal from the mark detection means. The mark detection means has a function for setting a mark detection effective period which is set for recognizing that the mark detection signal is the alignment mark during a mark detectable period when the alignment mark can be detected and at the time of the occurrence of the mark detection signal, and also, a function for determining that the mark detection means is abnormal when the mark detection signal is detected out of the mark detection effective period. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
