<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of decreasing or preventing the positional deviation of an image in a subscanning direction. <P>SOLUTION: The electrophotographic image forming apparatus has a photoreceptor drum 2; an exposure device 1 for scanning the electrified surface of the photoreceptor drum 2 with a light beam to form an electrostatic latent image; a developing device 5 for developing the electrostatic latent image formed on the surface of the photoreceptor drum 2 with toner; and a transfer device 10 for transferring a toner image developed on the surface of the photoreceptor drum 2 to an intermediate transfer belt 3 or recording paper (s) conveyed by the intermediate transfer belt 3. A plurality of marking patterns which are the reference of detecting a position in a conveying direction and any one of which shows the home position of the intermediate transfer belt 3 are preformed on the intermediate transfer belt 3, and the position of the marking pattern in the conveying direction of the intermediate transfer belt 3 is detected, based on the image formed by an electrophotographic process near the marking pattern, and the subscanning resist of the image data is adjusted, based on the result of detection. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
