<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor light emitting device having high reliability even if it is used for a streetlight, a signal, etc. by protecting the semiconductor light emitting device which can be used instead of an electric lamp, a fluorescence tube, etc. against a surge, such as a static electricity, etc. <P>SOLUTION: A semiconductor layer is laminated and a semiconductor lamination part is formed so that a light emitting layer may be formed on a substrate, the semiconductor lamination part is electrically divided into a plurality, and a pair of electrodes 19, 20 are respectively provided.
