<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dehumidifier capable of efficiently removing moisture in a room, and a control method therefor. <P>SOLUTION: The dehumidifier comprises a supporting plate 11 having a water conduit 16 penetrating face and back sides, a heat radiation fin 17 and a cooling fin 12 provided on a face side 22 and a back side 21 of the supporting plate 11, respectively, and a Peltier element 13 interposed between the heat radiation fin 17 and the cooling fin 12. The back side 21 of the supporting plate 11 is cooled and dehumidified by the conduction to the Peltier element 13, and heat radiation is performed on the face side 22 of the supporting plate 11. Dew condensation generated on the back side 21 of the supporting plate 11 is guided to the face side 22 of the supporting plate 11 via the water conduit 16.
