PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient and simple character input method using a numeric keyboard, and an electronic apparatus with the method. SOLUTION: In a method for inputting kana characters and 26 alphabet characters by keying numeric keys twice, the appropriate display of numeric keys on key tops and appropriate character assignment on each key are performed so as to allow a user to input characters seeing the key tops without learning a character assignment table by heart.
