When acquiring a pixel signal Sb of the other pixel 2b after acquiring a pixel signal Sa of one pixel 2a in a pixel sharing structure, a pixel signal Sab which is generated by synthesizing the signal charge of a plurality of the pixels 2a, 2b, is acquired by executing non-destructive reading, so that the signal charge of the pixel 2a read out first is not lost. The pixel signal Sb of the other pixel 2b read out later is obtained by the differential processing of the composite pixel signal Sab and the pixel signal Sa of the one pixel 2a.
