<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which is improved in visibility at the faulty spot of the apparatus so as to easily judge a method for coping with a fault or the exchange of parts. <P>SOLUTION: IC chips 321a to 32na for storing the state data of a plurality of units 321 to 32n, sensors 311 to 31n, and LEDs 321b to 32nb and LEDs 321c to 32nc informing of abnormality or the like are mounted on the respective units 321 to 32n.
