PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a terminal device for performing maintenance control with high safety against an abnormal situation such as temperature rise in a terminal case or failure of a cooling device in a CATV terminal or the like, and to provide a maintenance control method for the terminal device. SOLUTION: The CATV terminal device includes a broadcast receiving means for receiving the supply of a broadcast program from a management center of a CATV network via the CATV network. The device includes a cooling means for cooling the inside of the case of the terminal device; a detecting means for detecting the temperature of the inside of the case and operation failure of the cooling means; and a control means for notifying the management center about a detection result of the detecting means via the network, and controlling power supply to the broadcast receiving means.
