PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a map data processing system which can complete transferring map data prior to the generation of a map display request. SOLUTION: The map data processing system comprises a server computer 10 and a client computer 30 which are connected together through a network 20. The server computer 10 includes a map database 11 in which map data are registered in terms of a mesh unit; a utilization history database 12 in which utilization history information corresponding to the mesh unit map data is registered; a utilization history control section 14 which updates the utilization history information registered in the utilization history database; and a map data control section 13 which obtains map data, that have a high utilization frequency on the basis of the utilization history obtained through the utilization history control section 14 among the surrounding map data of the map data being transfer requested from the client computer and are not yet transferred, from the map database 11 and prior transfers to the client computer 30 in an asynchronous manner.
