PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chimney effect reducing system which can avoid adverse effect caused by chimney effect of a vertical shaft such as elevator shaft and staircase by simple equipment irrespective of the structure of a door or the like. SOLUTION: An outside air introducing fan 2 is installed at the top of the vertical shaft 12 extending vertically from a lower story to an upper story of a multi-story building 1. When an ascending air stream is formed in the vertical shaft 12 due to temperature difference between the inside and the outside of the building 1 in winter, outside air is introduced into the vertical shaft 12 from the top by the fan 2 to cool the inside of the shaft 12. Thus, the ascending current in the shaft 12 is suppressed, and the quantity of outside air flowing into the bottom of the shaft 12 from outside is reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
